Employment Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Thank you for your interest in joining Redwood Counseling! Here are answers to some of the most common questions we've received about current and future opportunities.

❓ Will you accept a LSW or LAMFT?
✅ At this time, we are building an intentional practice. LAPCs will be supervised by existing LPCs in the practice. As we add LCSWs and LMFTs, we will be offering positions for their associate counselor positions. The goal is to have all of our associate clinicians served by supervisors within the practice. We will accept applications, but may not hire for these positions until later in 2027.

❓ Can I be an independent contractor or have full autonomy over my practice?
✅ No, this is a W-2 employee position. Team members follow Redwood Counseling's clinical processes and work closely with Wendy and the broader practice. While clinicians bring their own strengths and clinical skills, we value a collaborative approach and a consistent experience for both clients and staff.

❓ Will you be hiring 1099 contractors?
✅ No, Redwood Counseling is committed to a W-2 employment model. Because we provide direct supervision, established workflows, and integrated practice support, all team members are hired as employees. This structure helps ensure compliance while providing a collaborative and well-supported work environment.

❓ Will you be supplying benefits?
✅ Yes. Redwood Counseling provides Workers' Compensation and unemployment benefits as required by law. The practice is also exploring health insurance, HSA, and 401(k) options. If these benefits become available, they would be 100% employee-paid. To be eligible for health insurance options, employees would need to maintain at least 20 client hours per week. Please contact the practice directly for the most current information regarding benefits.

❓ Will I be required to attend employee meetings?
✅ Yes. Team meetings are held every other week and are required for all staff, including both clinicians and administrative team members. Meeting time is paid, with clinicians compensated at their base rate and administrative staff paid at their regular hourly rate. These meetings help keep everyone connected, informed, and working together as a team.

❓ How will I attend meetings if I'm a virtual-only therapist?
✅ Team members who are unable to attend in person can join meetings virtually through Google Meet. This allows all staff, whether in-office or remote, to stay connected and participate in important team discussions.

❓ Will trainings be provided?
✅ Yes. Redwood Counseling provides employee onboarding and trauma-informed care training as part of the practice's commitment to professional development. Additional trainings may be offered throughout the year and will be announced in advance. Compensation is provided for approved trainings that are sponsored or required by the practice.

❓ Can I be a virtual-only therapist?
✅ At this time, we're primarily looking for therapists who can work from our Bloomsburg, PA office. Hybrid schedules are available, but our current focus is building a strong foundation of in-person counselors. As the practice grows, additional remote opportunities may become available.
